"We were introduced to your house and explored the surroundings last summer, and we would like to repeat the succesful experience again this year."
There are many possibilities in
the area. From Santa Pola you'll
find a ferry service which connects you to the small, but very
interesting and beautiful island of Tabarca, situated 11 nautical miles
from the mainland, which is approx. 40 min sailing from the coast. This
island is a popular destination for daytrips on a warm summer day. From
Alicante it is possible to catch the ferry to Ibiza, which is quite a
journey though.
In Alicante city there is a wide variety of activities. One can stroll
along the big marina, the beach promenade "Paseo Explanada de
España" or take a walk in the enjoyable petite side streets
with
their small and countless restaurants and dining locations. Among
others can the traditional Spanish course concept of "Tapas" warmly be
recommended.
A trip to the small village of Santa Pola, which is situated just south
of Gran Alacant, is definitely worthwhile. Santa Pola is a small and
“laidback” village, where you can experience and
enjoy the
real Spanish lifestyle. In addition you’ll find a large and
exotic fish market along with a traditional market a couple of times
each week. The route to Santa Pola can be taken along the coastal road,
which is a cosy bicycle/wander of approx. 8 km. The last couple of
kilometers are down a brick laid beach promenade beneath the grand
villas of Santa Pola.
South of Alicante, besides the road towards Cartagena, you can discover
the incredibly beautiful palm garden "Palmeral". It is located right
next to the ocean and contains, with its 72.000 square meters, a wide
variety of local and tropical fauna.
